Today, we're announcing a completely redesigned Maestro Studio! Modern, elegant, and with new features that make building tests faster than ever.
Maestro Studio is the desktop app for Maestro, the mobile UI testing framework used by teams at Microsoft, Meta, Uber, Amazon, DoorDash, and hundreds more. The idea behind it has always been simple: writing and maintaining UI tests for mobile apps shouldn't be painful. No complex setup, no steep learning curve, no brittle test maintenance.
Here's what's new:
Autocomplete that knows your app
Maestro Studio now autocompletes commands, arguments, and selectors directly from your connected device.
In practice this means: less time in the docs, fewer errors before you even run a test, and commands you didn't know existed showing up exactly when they're relevant. For new users, getting productive no longer requires memorizing Maestro's syntax. For experienced users, the repetitive parts of writing tests get significantly faster.
If no device is connected, command and argument suggestions still work. Connect one, and selector suggestions instantly become dynamic.
Faster test creation via the emulator
Right-clicking on the emulator gives you immediate access to common commands and the correct selector in just a click. Building a test by navigating through your app is now the natural path – for developers and QA testers alike, including those coming from manual testing who want a modern tool without a long learning curve.
Device connection is also significantly more robust in this release.
Upgrading
All your existing tests run as-is, with no migration needed. If you've only been using the CLI so far, now's a great time to try Studio. To get the latest version, update from within Studio or download it fresh:
